The newcomer to Ylläs will be quite overcome by the magnificent scenery and varying moods. Whether you are looking for a quiet holiday or days packed with action, you’ll find Ylläs has both and everything between. What is more, each of the four seasons of the year has something different to offer.
Ylläs area consists of seven fells and two original lappish villages. At 718m, Ylläs fell itself is one of the highest fells in Lapland. Äkäslompolo village is located on the northern side of the the Ylläs fell and Ylläsjärvi village on the southern side. Ylläs has a skiing tradition dating back to 1930’s. The first ski fans were making their way here even before the area was served by a road. The Pallas-Ylläs National Park provides unforgettable experiences all year round .

You can reach Ylläs either with flying from Helsinki to Kittilä (about 1:30 hours) or by train from Helsinki to Kolari (about 13 hours).

Kolari railway station
Bus transportation from every train to both Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo. Before each train there is also transportation to Kolari railway station from Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi.
Kittilä airport
The airport buses drive from Kittilä airport during the winter season ( 1.1 2.2007- 1.5.2008) to Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi (from domestic flights).
At other times a call taxi should be reserved one day in advance.
Pajala airport
There are two daily flights from Luleå to Pajala. To Luleå you can fly from Stockholm. From Pajala you can take a minibus to Ylläs.
